WOTNW stands for What’s on the Needle Wednesdays. WOTNW is an on-going weekly blog post where I share some of my WIP projects. I say some, because if I shared them all this post would go on forever. I bet many of you have dozens of projects all around the house, it’s not just me!
I would like to invite everyone to share their WIP project by doing a pingback in the comments section.
I have two designs working up based on a particular pattern that is slightly modified for each. The pattern is one that I used in another WIP project I call Rainy Day Puzzle. It started as a scale pattern, in which I decided I wanted to modify so that the scales would offset each other. The pattern produced bubbles with stockinette and garter stitch cores. I loved it!
As I was knitting this up in the shawl I began to think this would be great just on it’s own. The owners at Strings & Stitches were nice enough to provide me with the yarn to knit up a sample. The yarn they provided is a mixture of blues, greys and just a bit of pale lavender. As it knit up I could tell it would make a great uni-sex cowl, but I wanted to make something completely feminine too. So I went looking around the store and found two wonderful yarns, one that is the softest grey DK weight, with some mohair characteristics and a completely decorative metallic yarn. Both by Berroco, the soft yarn is Folio and the decorative is Mixture. In the second version, is not knit in the round, rather it will be more of a short scarf. The pattern will also feature more yarn-overs so it will be lacier and will feature random rows of the metallic yarn just to jazz it up a bit.
So what do you think of these two WIPs?
